PAC on the pace

PAKENHAM Auto Club (PAC) was out in force on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 March for the running of the 2013 Marysville Stages Marathon, which, as the name implies, is a marathon event.
The event was fully route charted with a competitive distance of approximately 380 km being run in three divisions.
The first division, the Escort Memorial Rally was approximately a 100 km competitive daylight section on Saturday.
The second division the Marysville Stages (VCRS), round one of the Victorian Club Rally Series, with approximately 120 km competitive distance which ran Saturday night and early Sunday morning, included an option for new competitors – the FFCC Camcrusher Introductory Trial – which was a 70 km mapped trial.
The third division the Anglia Memorial Rally was a fully route charted 85 km daylight competitive on Sunday.
PAC member, Nick Wright had the unenviable task of scoring the event, while other PAC members were competing or manning control points in and around Marysville for long hours during the day and into the early hours of Sunday morning.
Being a marathon event, mere participation was the aim of many competitors, finishing was an achievement, and winning a division… a bonus.
The Marathon winners were Cary Seabrook and Rhiannon Philpot-Hale in a Datsun Stanza. Marysville Stages winners were Peter Schey and Andrew Crimson in a Ford Escort. The Escort Memorial winners were Paul Eccles and Alysha Eccles in a Subaru WDX and finally the Camcrusher winners were Craig Latta and Zachary Anderson in a Peugeot 505.
PAC members Graham Wallis in his Peugeot 505 managed 1st in grade in the Marathon, and 7th in Class in the Stages. Daniel Unternahrer and Jodie Finnegan were 3rd in grade in the Marathon. Graham Hurle and Elizabeth Kidgell were doing quite well when a seized differential in the Escort Memorial Rally put them out of the event.
The next event at the PAC Motorsport ground in McGregor Road is a Group 5 Motorkhana on Sunday 14th April. New members and visitors are welcome.
