Homicide squad probes Pakenham woman’s death

By DANIELLE GALVIN and NICOLE WILLIAMS

A PAKENHAM mother of three was found dead in her home in a ‘gruesome’ scene on Thursday afternoon.
The body of the 42-year-old woman was discovered by her twin 11-year-old daughters in their McCaffrey Rise home around 3.20pm.
Detective Inspector John Potter from the Homicide Squad said the girls alerted a neighbour when they found her, who called police.
Det Insp Potter said it was a gruesome crime but there was no weapon found on the scene.
The family was described as a ‘normal suburban family’ and it was normal for the woman to be home at that time of day.
Police are investigating whether she disturbed a burglar.
Anyone with information or anyone who saw anything suspicious in McCaffrey Rise and the surrounding streets during school hours on Thursday are being urged to contact police.
Police also wish to speak to anyone who may have noticed any suspicious behaviour in the area in the days prior.
A post mortem will be conducted today (Friday) to determine the cause of death.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit crimestoppers.com.au.
