A car show held at the Harkaway General Store on Sunday 29 September was a roaring success.
Car enthusiasts from the community rolled in to look at 28 classic cars that were on display.
General store owner Angela Stellato said it was a successful day with about 100 people coming through during the day.
“There were lots of locals with their classic cars, it was a good place for people to mingle with old friends and meet new people in the community,” she said.
There was a variety of cars on display, including Porsches, Rochets, mini Marcos, Indian motorbikes and Thunderbirds provided by the Thunderbird Car Club of Australia.
The car show spread out in front of the general store, and the local primary school next door.
It wasn’t all about the cars, though, with profits from the sausage sizzle going to the Harkaway Primary School.
Romeo Stellato said the aim was to get the community out and about, bringing families together for a day out.
“We have some other events planned – billy cart races, father and son things, we just want to get people out here on the weekends,” he said.
Romeo is also investigating hosting a car show on a more regular basis.
“People asked if we could do it again, we’re looking at doing it once a month maybe on a Friday night over the summer,” he said.
