ONE Berwick teen couldn’t believe his luck when he uploaded one of his band’s songs to Triple J unearthed… and got a call back straight away.
Zac Connelly is part of ‘The Controllers’, a local band whose success rate is growing at a rapid speed with one of their most recent songs airing on popular radio station Triple J.
It all started when three mates shared a similar passion… music. At high school, a group of around six started a band called ‘Happy Accidents’ which accompanied its members through most of secondary school. The group won The Battle of the Bands, hosted at Haileybury College in Berwick where the Happy Accidents all attended.
After school ended, so too did the group but Zac and friends Kieran Rafferty and Ben Tyler decided to continue with their passion for music.
“We stopped that band and finished school, but then the three of us decided to start another one,” Zac said.
As a result, The Controllers was created and it is a soaring success.
The band had their first performance a couple of weeks ago and Zac is looking forward to the launch of their new single at the Brunswick Hotel early next month.
The young musician said it’s great to share his passion for music with his best mates, all of whom love to perform.
“I love playing with my two best friends,” he said.
“We all love to play in front of people and we have a lot of support.
“It’s just an exciting thing to do.” Zac said.
Although he was more interested in sport when younger, Zac began to feel his father’s passion for music as he got older.
With five songs already under their belt, The Controllers are excited about what the future holds.
