Music to jazz up park

Rebecca Moore will be part of the Summer Music Series.

EMERALD Lake Park will be alive with the sound of music during February, thanks to the Cardinia Shire Council.
For the fifth year, the council will host its Summer Music Series, bringing free, family friendly musical entertainment to Emerald Lake Park every Sunday afternoon in February.
Performances will be held at the Emerald Lake Park bandstand (located between the café and the pool) from 12.30pm to 3pm.
Over the next four weeks, groups representing a range of musical genres will entertain including the Becky Moore Funk Quartet, the Cardinia Civic Concert Band, Voyages World Music Group and Khristian Mizzi and the Sirens.
Cardinia Shire residents of all ages are encouraged to bring friends, family and a picnic to enjoy the music and beautiful surrounds of one of the shire’s most beautiful parks.
Council’s cultural development officer Holly DeMaria said the series gave residents a great opportunity to celebrate and take part in the local arts and cultural community.
“The event has grown to include an exciting interactive element,” Ms DeMaria said.
“After the success of last year’s free drumming circles, the 2014 Summer Music Series will again offer people of all ages and abilities the chance to make music of their own.”
Positive Music’s drumming circles will be held every week during the Summer Music Series and all levels are welcome.
