STAYING safe online and being cyber smart is an important part of life at Pakenham Springs Primary School.
On Monday, Year 5 and 6 students undertook a cyber smart presentation followed by a session for teachers and parents.
The presentation teaches students about how to stay safe online and how to use technology respectfully.
“Technology plays such an important role in everyday life and has so many advantages,” principal Colin Sloper said.
“It does, however, need to be used correctly and wisely.
“Personal safety and privacy are key issues.”
Mr Sloper said students needed to know how to be safe when using technology and how to protect their privacy.
“The Cyber Smart Program is aimed at parents, teachers and Year 5 and 6 students,” he said.
“The main aim is to promote safety when using online technologies.
“It also promotes the message that too much time online can impact on your health and wellbeing, family, relationships, work or education.”
