Golden Goon effort wins by the book

Scott Goldsworthy addresses his troops.

AGGRESSION, hard tackling, and run-and-carry. Tick, tick and tick.
There was plenty for Goon coach Scott Goldsworthy to love about his side’s first up win over Garfield on Saturday.
He praised the forward prowess of Shannon Stocco after admitting to “getting stuck into him” at half-time and telling him to work harder. Boy did he lift. He ran rings around the Stars’ backmen, constantly pushing them up the ground and then running back hard towards goal.
But Goldsworthy said the livewire was just one of more than 20 contributors across the board.
“It felt like there was a whole team of blokes out there passionate about playing for each other and the jumper,” he said.
“That’s what it felt like – I could hear Frommy (Jackson Fromhold) yelling out and Toddy (Todd Beck) yelling out … every single person out there was yelling and making a noise and getting up and about.”
Goldsworthy marvelled at the performance of teenager Beck, while the evergreen Ben Scanlon was the other clear standout in a big 94-point win – 24.11 (155) to 9.7 (61).
