LAKESIDE is to light up gold, white and blue in support of the Leukaemia Foundation.
Light the Night is an event that will be held in more than 100 locations during October to raise money and awareness for the foundation.
Walkers will be asked to carry one of three coloured lanterns – gold to remember a loved one, white for their own blood cancer journey or blue to show they care.
General manager of the Leukaemia Foundation Stephanie Hechenberger said the event would provide emotional and financial support for people living with blood cancer.
“Light the Night is always an uplifting and visually stunning event that brings families and friends together but with so many walks during October, this year promises to be especially spectacular,” she said.
“We all need a little light in our lives.
“This sentiment couldn’t ring truer for more than 60,000 Australians living with leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and related blood disorders.”
The foundation hopes to raise $1.5 million to assist with providing free emotional and practical support for people living with blood cancer as well as to fund research into treatments and cures.
Light the Night will be held at Lakeside Lake in Pakenham on Friday 9 October, beginning at 6pm.
