Road repairs ready to roll

MORE than two kilometres of a Cardinia shire road has been reconstructed in a bid to improve drivers’ safety and another two roads will undergo repairs at the beginning of next year.
Railway Avenue in Bunyip and Thirteen Mile Road in Garfield underwent reconstruction earlier this year.
Works were completed on the major roads in October.
More than 1.7km was reconstructed on Thirteen Mile Road up to the entrance to the golf club as part of the works funded by the council’s annual Road Rehabilitation Program.
The fund also covered the replacement of more than 550 metres of road surface on Railway Avenue near Hope Street.
Cardinia shire Mayor Jodie Owen said the works would guarantee a safer road surface for all road users.
“These four roads were in bad shape and council is pleased to have been able to help residents and drivers feel safer on the roads in our shire,” she said.
Two additional sections of roadway on Bald Hill Road, Pakenham, and McDonalds Track, Lang Lang, will also be replaced early in 2016.
“Council will continue to make improvements on roads around the shire to ensure all our residents can get around safely,” Cr Owen said.
“Residents should be aware of road works in the area and drive according to the road conditions.”
The council also started a program to reseal 18 roads, reapply asphalt on 40 roads and complete work on eight car parks in November.
