KATH Jones and Jennie Coventry have spent years volunteering at the Red Cross so it was only fitting that they celebrated their 90th birthdays together at a celebration recently.
Members of the Berwick/Upper Beaconsfield branch gathered at the Berwick RSL on Friday 11 March to mark the special milestone.
Unfortunately, Kath has just been released from hospital and could not attend the event but fellow volunteers celebrated in her absence.
Speaking at the morning tea, president Heather Perrott said both have served impressive terms at the branch.
“I was looking back through the minute books and what an icon Jennie has been for the branch and region eight as well as our representative,” she said.
“One year she stood for chairman as well as a secretary till they found one after a few months.
“Jennie, in 2019, will clock up 40 years and Kath 25 years.”
Jennie cut the cake with her daughter Annie Hardham watching on.
