POLICE have released a digitised image of the unique style of track pants worn by the man who firebombed Pakenham police station.
CCTV footage captures the man, wearing a pair of track pants with a grey leg and a black leg, throwing a lit Molotov cocktail at the entrance of the police station, just before 1am on Saturday 12 March.
Other features of the man remain disguised – footage showing his face turned to the ground and buried underneath a cap during the firebombing – however police hope the unique style of track pants worn by the offender may be his unravelling.
Footage captures the man passing through the first set of doors into the 24/7 hour complex with the lit Molotov cocktail.
When he realises he cannot get through the second set of doors, locked for officers’ security overnight, he appears to walk away.
But seconds later he looks down at the lit Molotov cocktail, and pelts it toward the glass doors which become fully covered in flames.
He is seen running from the police station. Police are yet to locate him.
He is described as being Caucasian in appearance with a medium build.
Anyone with any information about the incident or who recognises the track pants is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
