Snap up photography training

Depth of field will be one of the topics covered by the Pakenham Camera Club.

PAKENHAM Camera Club will run its annual photography course for beginners, From A to M, beginning on Tuesday 31 May at Beaconhills Secondary College, Pakenham Road, Pakenham, from 7pm and every Tuesday night in June, with a final workshop session on the streets of Pakenham on Saturday 9 July.
The course is designed to help new photographers and those who want to improve their photography skills and includes the following topics:
Week one: You Have a New Camera, Now What? Exploring a camera, what do the settings do, what makes it work, power supply, memory cards, software programs.
Week two: So You Think You Can Take a Good Photo/Why is Your Photo Better Than Mine? What to look for when taking photos, recognising that there is something that gives photos oomph and what it is, impact, composition, use of colour, photographic rules, straight horizons, checking backgrounds, removing distractions, how to review photos and be objective about them.
Week three: Ah Sweet Mystery… The Role of Aperture. ISO, shutter speed, using a camera in different operational settings, white balance, use of flash.
Week four: What Happens Now… A Few Simple Poses. Landscape ideas, how to present images for best effect, use of software.
Week five: Putting It All Together. Have a go with a walk around Pakenham.
The cost of the course will be $75 for all five sessions and includes free membership to the Pakenham Camera Club.
All that is needed is a camera, pen and a notebook.
