CAREER operations firefighter Terry Heafield is riding his bike 2500 kilometres across Victoria, stopping at fire stations along the way to share his experiences battling with depression and anxiety.
The aim of his ride was to raise awareness around these issues and to spread the ‘don’t do it alone message’.
Pakenham firefighter Paul Noone said Mr Heafield had dinner with the CFA staff and volunteer members from across the Cardinia region.
“During his visit, Terry made a presentation to the group, sharing his history of mental health issues and his journey through the various stages and gradual recovery,” Mr Noone said.
“The chat was very revealing and honest, and was exceptionally well received by the group.”
