An almond husk fire has burnt out of control along the South Gippsland Highway at Lang Lang this afternoon.
CFA crews from Bayles, Loch, Lang Lang, Heath Hill, Kernot, and Kooweerup declared the fire under control by 1.05pm.
The damage caused by the fire covered an area about 15 metres by 30 metres.
While it in unclear how the fire started, CFA said discarded almond husks have the capacity to combust in a similar way to hay bales.
A warning to the surrounding towns remains in place for smoke in the air as the fire will take time to be properly extinguished.
