Overnight battle contains state park fire

The fire has spread across 26 hectares of bush land.

Firefighters say they have contained the Bunyip State Park blaze overnight and this morning said they expected to bring it under control later today.
Fire crews and helicopter water bombers stopped the fire’s northerly spread near Burgess Road last night.
Bulldozers and an excavator are working to construct and strengthen containment lines around the fire perimeter.
The blaze had burned out 23 hectares as of 9.15am this morning.
The CFA is sending a repel crew to monitor the fire from aircraft because the affected bush land is dense and inaccessible from the ground.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
Emergency services were alerted to the blaze at 2.20pm on Wednesday 22 November when smoke was spotted near Burgess Road.
The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) said there is currently no threat to nearby communities, however, residents should continue to stay informed and monitor weather conditions and warnings.
