Spreading the kind spirit of the season

Community members have shared tales of children's random acts of kindness this Christmas.

The spirit of Christmas is truly alive in Cardinia Shire this year.
Tales have emerged of simple gestures and random acts of kindness brightening the lives of total strangers.
One such act brought a smile to the face of Ron and Helen Boon.
The couple were enjoying a coffee at Officer’s Arena Shopping Centre on 11 December when they were randomly approached by three small children from the Ellis family who presented the pair with a block of chocolate.
“It was the Ellis kids who were doing a family tradition of one thing special and kind to others,” Ms Boon said.
Ms Boon and her husband said they were very touched by the children’s kind wishes and their random act of kindness.
“It’s so nice to see this happening in the community and what an excellent job the parents are doing bringing up their children this way,” she said.
“Have a Merry Christmas Ellis family, and all in the community. It was a lovely surprise.”
The Boons’ story comes just days after Pakenham resident Jill Monzina told of the joy of discovering a Christmas card and $5 note left in her letter box.
The $5 donation, from the pocket money of children known simply as Cassie, Caity and Mitch was given in appreciation of her Christmas light display.
