Local lotto luck

The Christmas period saw two locals win big in the lotto.

Two lucky locals have taken out top prizes in the lotto.
A woman from Cockatoo had both her birthday and Christmas wishes come true at once after scratching one of the $25,000 top prizes on a $2 Instant Scratch-Its ticket she received as a Christmas gift, on her birthday.
The thrilled woman, who has chosen to remain anonymous, said receiving Instant Scratch-Its tickets part of her Christmas gift was a family tradition.
“They are usually the Christmas themed ones and just $10 or something, nothing extravagant but it’s just a little something as a gift at Christmas time,” she said.
“We were all just sitting around scratching our tickets and I said ‘this can’t be right – because if it is I’ve just won $25,000’.
“Everyone just screamed ‘What! What? What!?’ because usually we are excited if we have won $5.
“Then one by one my family came over and checked the ticket and said ’you’ve really won!’ Everyone was so happy for me.”
The winner confessed to keeping her winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket safe in the most unlikely of places.
“I kept it in the bread box. It’s mostly just paperwork, not any bread. But I kept it safe in there until I could claim the prize,” she said.
The Cockatoo resident wasn’t the only local to win big this Christmas.
One Berwick resident or visitor could be starting 2018 as a millionaire after winning division one in TattsLotto $30 million Megadraw, draw 3803 on 30 December 2017, but they just don’t know it.
The mystery winner is one of 21 division one winners across Australia to win a division one prize of $1,428.584.98.
The winning entry is not registered to a Tatts Card so Tatts officials have no way of contacting the winner to break the life-changing news and have to wait until the ticket holder makes contact to claim their prize.
The winning entry was purchased at Berwick Springs Lotto and News, Kiosk 2, Eden Rise Shopping Centre, Berwick.
Tatts spokesperson Bronnie Spencer urged everyone to check their tickets.
“You may not think it’s possible that you could be one of the division one winners we’re searching for, but if you purchased an unregistered entry in the weekend’s TattsLotto draw that you haven’t checked yet, you’re in with a chance,” Ms Spencer said.
“We’re urging all TattsLotto players to check their entries as soon as possible and if you discover you are holding the division one winning ticket to contact Tatts on 131 868 to begin the process of claiming your prize.”
The six winning numbers in the $30 Million Megadraw (draw 3803) on Saturday 30 December were 6, 30, 9, 35, 27 and 37, while the supplementary numbers were 4 and 14.
