Plan for rail disruptions

The Pakenham train line faces service disruptions as works are carried out.

Train commuters face a fortnight of service disruptions as level crossing works continue on the Pakenham line.
Buses will replace trains between Westall and Dandenong from 30 January to 14 February as new Australian steel train tracks are laid and a new elevated line is constructed between Caulfield and Hughesdale.
The latest service alterations come after buses replaced trains between Caulfield and Dandenong from 10 January to 17 January while other works on the train line were carried out.
Commuters are advised to allow for extra travel time during the service alterations.
Acting Public Transport Minister Philip Dalidakis thanked passengers for their patience during the works, which will see all nine level crossings between Caulfield and Dandenong removed by the end of the year.
“We’re ahead of schedule and the end result will be worth it,” Mr Dalidakis said.
“This massive project is creating thousands of jobs here in Melbourne’s South-East and will allow us to run more trains more often on the city’s busiest train line.”
