VicRoads has alerted motorists to a serious collision on the Monash Freeway.
Three city-bound lanes are closed at Springvale Road, leaving only one open.
VicRoads has reminded drivers to adhere to the 40 km/h limit passing the scene for the protection of emergency services, and have suggested that drivers exit the Monash Freeway at Stud Road, Police Road or Wellington Road and use the Princes Highway as an alternative.
The scene is not expected to be cleared for some time.
Drivers are urged to check real time travel advice at traffic.vicroads.vic.gov.au and allow plenty of time to get to their destinations.
