If you’re a fan of ABC quiz shows, there’s a chance you’ve seen some familiar faces pop up on your television in recent times.
Kooweerup identity Caroline Roff and Jono McQuie of Berwick are regulars on the popular new quiz show Think Tank.
Hosted by TV grandmaster Paul McDermott, Think Tank puts all that general knowledge and random pub trivia floating around in contestants’ brains to good use.
In each episode, three contestants go head to head, pitting their general knowledge and general luck against each other.
But helping or maybe hindering them in their pursuit of game show glory, is the Think Tank, comprised of eight people including Ms Roff and Mr McQuie.
Contestants can ask the Think Tank for assistance with questions; however, sometimes they get it wrong.
The two locals were chosen to take part due to their extensive knowledge in their chosen fields.
Ms Roff specialises in literature, while Mr McQuie who has “a really good recall” favours geography and history.
Ms Roff described the three-month filming experience as “really fun”.
“If you’re obsession about trivia, others tend to find it boring. But these people do not. The other Think Tankers are the same as me,” Ms Roff said.
“I found myself with a group of people I really like.”
A former constant on another quiz show, The Chase, Ms Roff described her stint on Think Chase as a lot calmer.
“Not everyone watches the ABC….so it was great. You’re not suddenly slapped over the head with the celebrity tag,” Ms Roff said.
“It was a really positive experience for us, always fun to do.”
Mr McQuie said he had received “lots of positive feedback” since appearing on the show.
The journalism student said he believed the show was popular due to its longer time format.
“You get 60 minutes, so people really get the opportunity to find about more about the cast,” Mr McQuie said.
“On other shows people are on for one week then they’re gone again. Here, you get to form that connection.”
