The Librarians,
Fox – SyFy Channel, Sunday 8.30pm

Imagine that a world-famous Metropolitan Library is more than what it seems.
That below it is the centuries-old headquarters of scholars and adventurers who investigate bizarre events, collect dangerous artefacts and save the world from the supernatural threats.
Originally started as a series of telemovies and a bit of a star vehicle for former ER star Noah Wylie, the series is now in its fourth (and maybe final) series.
This is one of those shows you can watch with your older kids – a bit of nonsense but with enough of a basis in truth, legend and myths to get them asking questions.
Starring former model Rebecca Romijn (XMen) as Colonel Eve Baird, a former NATO agent who is now the library’s Guardian – this show is light-hearted and more about entertaining than scaring the crap out of them.
She is tasked with finding and training the new Librarian – and through the first three series there have been three candidates working as a team – mathematician Cassandra Cillian (Lindy Booth), Jacob Stone (Christian Kane) an Oklahoma labourer who is also a genius and art history buff and Ezekiel Jones (former Neighbours star John Harlan Kim) as an Australian confidence thief and tech expert. They are joined by comedy veteran John Larroquette who plays the library caretaker Jenkins.
For the first three series the intrepid three were getting to know the library but in four, a decision must finally be made and they are all jockeying for position, mixing things up a bit for the show. It’s a light-hearted, fun, funny romp with a bit of science and legend thrown in.
