Open Studios West Gippsland

Graham Myrteza shows off his masterpiece.

Wouldn’t it be great to see into the mind of an artist: to find out what motivates them to create, what inspires them, and how they go about creating their individual expressions of art?
The regular “Meet the Maker” event in West Gippsland provides insights into 14 local artists – each with their own skills, inspirations and styles of artwork.
This self-guided tour enables visitors to explore the back roads of Baw Baw Shire and stop by local cafes and wineries on the way.
Visitors can choose to view the works of painters, sculptors, printmakers, potters, musicians, calligraphers, jewellery makers and weavers.
The mix of artists changes each year, and the regular artists change their styles as they move on in their creative arts practice.
Listen to the story behind the work, browse and buy direct from the maker.
Each artist is located in a different studio across the Baw Baw Shire.
Among those are Drouin-based artist Lisa Kurec, whose etching work is inspired by the environment and Ukrainian customs; Anita George from Warragul, who specialises in pen on parchment calligraphy; and local farmer, animal and bird lover,
and passionate artist Judy Mackintosh, who offers pet
portraits in oils on canvas.
