Locals are encouraged to remember the sacrifices made in war this Anzac Day by donating to the 2018 Anzac Appeal.
RSL Appeals are being rolled out across the state, with all the sub-branches raising vital funds for Australia’s heroes.
Gary Elliott, President of the Pakenham Sub Branch, is confident the local community will once again generously support the RSL’s annual ANZAC Appeal.
“Our RSL volunteers, many of them veterans, are ready to offer a variety of ANZAC Appeal badges. The high level of energy and commitment shown by our Sub-Branch volunteers as they raise the much needed funds, is truly humbling,” he said.
“Each and every volunteer is determined to get into the community and not only sell ANZAC Appeal badges, but to share their stories and experiences.
“I would also like to thank the members of our local community who so generously support the ANZAC Appeal and our veterans.”
RSL Victoria’s appeals manager Peter Smith OAM said the funds raised through the Anzac Appeal enable the RSL to deliver assistance to those men and women who had served our country and who now need our support.”
“It can include assistance such as medical bills, emergency home repairs, food vouchers and relief from social isolation.”
“Each RSL sub-branch in Victoria plays a vital role within their community and for many veterans the sub-branch is the social and welfare hub that they know and love.”
Anzac Appeal badges can be purchased locally from Woolworths, Officeworks, Pakenham RSL or from volunteer collectors. Online donations can be made at anzacappeal.com.au.
