Budding Jedi at John Henry Primary School have swapped their uniforms for robes to celebrate “May the Fourth” – recognised as Star Wars day.

The fan-inspired celebration on Friday recognised a famous Star Wars slogan, prompting the saga’s biggest fans to dress and impress.

Some of the series’ most iconic heroes and villains drew their lightsabers at the Pakenham school, including Obi-Wan Kenobi, Princess Leia, Chewbacca and Darth Vader.Parents were invited to the school on Friday afternoon to witness the childrens’ costumes and partake in a digital technology session. For Spencer, dressed as a Star Wars storm-trooper, it was a fun way to pay homage to the chronicle. He said he was “very happy” to don the universally-recognised armour.

The date for Star Wars day was chosen as a play on words of the Star Wars quote “May the Force be with you”.

It is followed by further celebrations on 5 May, dubbed “Revenge of the Fifth”.
