TWO Victorian Institute of Sport athletes from Berwick’s St Margaret’s School have traversed regional Victoria to inspire the next generation.

Laetisha Scanlan and Sam de Riter returned to their roots to tout the benefits of motivation, resilience, goal setting and nutrition.

Ms Scanlan said it was extremely rewarding to have the chance to speak to students about her journey.

“I am so lucky to get the opportunity to talk about my journey and how important it is to set goals not just in your sport but also in life,” she said.

“I love spreading a message on how sport can contribute to positive mental and physical health.

“I met some talented kids, who will hopefully follow in the same footsteps as I did in their own sport to achieve their dreams.”

As part of the experience, the duo visited schools in Birchip, Sea Lake and Manangatan.

In a statement, Manangatan College welcomed the visit from the Berwick athletes.

“The speakers were excellent and the students and staff were very impressed,” the statement said.

“We don’t have many opportunities to access well known or elite level athletes so this was a fantastic opportunity for our school.”
