A 29-year-old Berwick man was taken to hospital after being caught up in a cowardly hit and run this morning.

Police are currently on the scene of the hit-run collision and have been told the man was pushing a broken-down maroon Subaru Forrester out of Riveria Road and west on to O’Shea Road about 6.45am on Monday 18 June.

A white Subaru Forrester with stolen registration plates was travelling west along O’Shea Road when it clipped the vehicle and hit the man.

The male driver and female passenger got out of the vehicle to check on the man before running from the scene.

It’s alleged the car was travelling at an excess of 70km/h when it hit the man.

The runaway driver and passenger are both described as Caucasian in appearance and aged in their 20s.

The male driver was wearing a black cap on backwards and a light coloured t-shirt with a black pattern on the shoulders.

He also had a sleeve tattoo.

The 29-year-old Berwick man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Casey Highway Patrol officers are investigating and are keen to speak to any witnesses.

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are on scene assisting with the investigation.
