Swapping out the school uniforms for a day, Kooweerup Secondary School students donned pyjamas, dressing gowns, onesies and trackies to support Motor Neurone Disease Australia.

Comfort Day, the brainchild of the school’s Student Representative Council, was packed with fun activities to raise vital funds for the worthy cause.

At lunch time there was a barbeque and slippery slide on the oval – the main attraction being the dress up race with Jason Cox and Mitchel Davey going head to head down the slide.

Students also had the chance to put a gold coin donation towards the teacher they wanted to see get an icy cold bucket of water tipped over their head.

Assistant Principal Leonie McGimley said nearly $1400 was raised on the day.

“We’re very proud of our students for putting on such a fantastic event,” Ms McGimley said.

“Almost everyone wore comfortable clothes on the day – including the staff! It was a chilly day so it was good to be snuggled up.

“The barbeque was so popular that we ran out of sausages; we could have easily sold another 100. There were a few charcoal offerings but the boys seem to eat anything so it wasn’t a problem.”

Students will continue to sell MND Australia merchandise at the school to raise further funds.
