Police are investigating the assault of an 11-year-old at John Street Pakenham around 3pm on Sunday 15 July.

Pakenham boy Blake Hare was spending time with friends at the playground when two unknown male teenagers approached him and assaulted him.

“I was on the tiny tramp with my friends when someone picked me up and threw me on the ground,” Blake said.

“Another one punched me in the face.

“I didn’t even know them.”

When he got up one of the offenders punched him in the face causing him to hit his head on the ground, getting a blood nose in the process.

A passer-by who witnessed the attack took Blake to the library to for medical attention.

Blake’s mum Tammy was shocked to see the state of her son when he arrived home.

“I was just numb,” Tammy said.

“What angers me the most is thinking about how many other people would have been at the park that day, and yet no one did anything.

“One kind gentleman led him to the library to get cleaned up, and a few people have since sent me personal messages, but that’s it.

“He will not be going back to that park.”

Blake said his friends yelled at the two males, who took off on their scooters after assaulting him.

He described them as both wearing black pants, with one in a red jumper and the other in a black jumper with a white circle.

Blake, who suffers from ADHD, had already sustained serious injuries from the day before when he fell from his bike and was impaled by his handlebars, requiring stitches.

Tammy said her Grade 5 son was shaken by the ordeal, and asks anyone who witnessed the attack to come forward.

“He doesn’t want to go there again – it was pretty violent,” she said.

“I need to know what happened; I’m not out for blood I just want their side of the story.

“My son is no angel – he has behavioural problems of his own that he needs to sort out. But no-one deserves to be assaulted.”

Any witnesses to the attacked are urged to contact Constable Bradbury at Pakenham Police 59452500.
