The Andrews Labor Government is speeding up home-building in Cardinia, with a $60,000 grant to Cardinia Shire Council for new planning technology.

The funding will deliver new technology to accelerate the development of an online portal and processing system.

In addition, $1.36 million is being invested in seven support projects managed by the Victorian Planning Authority (VPA), working with the seven metropolitan growth corridor councils.

Key initiatives include a power utilities land manager to enable faster connections to new estates, a review of the Small Lot Housing Code to simplify the rules and adoption of best practice across Councils.

The funding is part of the Streamlining for Growth program, to improve planning in growth areas.

The Labor Government is investing $24 million into the Streamlining for Growth program over four years, to fund initiatives that will boost new affordable housing, jobs and infrastructure.

“This will make it quicker and easier to plan and build in Cardinia,” “Member for Eastern Victoria Region, Daniel Mulino MP said.

“It’s part of our ongoing investment to cut red tape and improve the planning process for growing communities like Cardinia,”
