A MAN has died after a tragic crash near Nar Nar Goon on Monday afternoon.

The Princes Freeway eastbound was brought to a close near Snell Road after reports of a serious collision.

Police have been told a white Toyota Hilux veered from the road about 1.30pm and ploughed into a grey Toyota Hilux which was parked on the grass.

A medical issue is being considered as the cause of the collision, according to Cardinia Highway Patrol members.

A Police Air Wing unit attended but the driver, a man in his late sixties, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the occupants of the grey Hilux that was hit had pulled over to adjust the contents of their car, and were fortunately uninjured in the smash.

Officers have not yet identified the deceased.

Investigators will prepare a report for the coroner in wake of the incident.

The exact cause of the crash is yet to be determined.

Closures remained in place for most of the afternoon with emergency services redirecting traffic.
