A groundskeeper has slammed the heartless vandals who desecrated Lang Lang Cemetery last week.

Mourners arrived to commemorate relatives on Father’s Day, only to discover hooligans had ransacked the cemetery’s storage facility and toilets.

Water pipe infrastructure was also reportedly destroyed, preventing volunteers from being able to maintain the luscious garden.

Members of the Lang Lang Cemetery Trust are considering ramping up security in wake of the vandalism.

“The cemetery is supposed to be a well-respected area – somewhere people visit to pay their respects to loved ones,” Lang Lang Cemetery Trust secretary Karen Brown said.

“It’s extremely disappointing that vandals feel the need to ruin our cemetery for everyone else.

“There should be no need for our toilet block to be locked unless there is a funeral in process, but apparently it is something we may have to strongly consider to keep it in good order for those genuine people who come to visit our cemetery.”

The cemetery has been targeted by vandals on several occasions in recent years.
