Pulsar pursuit

A police pursuit across Melbourne’s south east has landed a joyrider in court.

On Thursday 18 October a driver in a stolen red Nissan Pulsar attempted to steal petrol at the Officer BP around 12.30pm.

When unsuccessful, the offender then drove to Clough’s Shell service station in Nar Nar Goon, where he successfully made off with $50-worth of stolen petrol before continuing on to Moe.

Closely followed by police in marked and unmarked vehicles, as well as a police air wing unit, the offender then turned around and made his way to King’s Way in Melbourne.

After becoming stuck in traffic, two police officers were able to approach the immobile car, after which the offender attempted to drive off.

The officers smashed the side window on the driver’s side and arrested the 22-year-old Altona Meadows man.

The car was stolen from an address on High Street in Northcote on 1 August.

The man has now been charged with theft of a motor vehicle, handle of stolen goods, theft of petrol and attempted theft of petrol. He has been bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 13 December.
