The Pakenham Racing Club has unveiled a slew of community grants, totalling $64,000, to enrich the Cardinia Shire community.

During the highly-popular Cardinia Shire Kids Night Out on 17 January, 13 recipients were announced.

Since 2010, the club has pumped more than $1 million into the community, through the Community Grants Fund.

The major recipients were:

• Nar Nar Goon Progress Association to undertake a community barbecue upgrade at Cheryl Edyvane Park.

• Living Learning Pakenham to undertake a community garden upgrade.

• Maryknoll Tennis Club to resurface courts.

• St Thomas Aquinas College to install security fencing, enabling the community to access the gym.

• Rotary Club of Pakenham, to replace their community barbecue trailer.

Chairman Simon Conn said the annual grants program is an important way for the club to support local initiatives and activities that benefit residents.

“PRC is very pleased to be able to assist so many worthy groups, many of which are run by community volunteers, to continue their great work which benefits the broader community,” he said.

“I look forward to seeing the projects come to fruition.”

The next round of major community grants funding opens on 1 August 2019.

Minor grant winners were also announced, sharing in tens of thousands of dollars.
