A teenage boy has been arrested and charged for his involvement in a robbery in Pakenham on Monday 21 January.

Two teenage victims were walking south along Honeyeater Way in Pakenham just before 1pm when they were approached by three male youths of African appearance.

Police understand two of the three strangers asked the two boys for the time before grabbing at one of the victims’ backpacks.

The trio then rummaged through the bag and, upon finding no items of interest, left the bag and fled the area.

Members of the Southern Metro Crime Team arrested one of the youths, a 16-year-old Pakenham boy, a short time later.

The young offender was remanded overnight in relation to other matters and due to appear in a children’s court today.

He has been bailed in relation to the Pakenham robbery and is due to appear in court on 22 February.

The other two offenders have not yet been identified by police.
