Police are searching for an offender who broke into a Pakenham home and stole a victim’s car keys and their vehicle while they slept.
The incident took place at Crystal Street Pakenham on Thursday 24 January.
The victim awoke at 5.30am to go to work only to discover his keys and car, a 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe, had been stolen overnight.
The vehicle was recovered by police on Greaves Road Narre Warren later that day at around 1pm.
Police believe the burglar entered via an unlocked door at the back of the house.
