Capital Works, Major Equipment grants open

Applications for Cardinia Shire Council’s Community Capital Works and Major Equipment Grants 2019–20 are now open and will close 5pm, Monday 4 March 2019.

Under the Community Capital Works Grants program, eligible community groups can apply for funding up to $35,000 to upgrade and help manage council and crown-owned community and recreation facilities within Cardinia Shire.

Suitable projects include building extensions and improvements; capital improvements to facilities; built-in or fixed equipment installations; or portable items where they meet best practice standards (e.g. playground equipment in kindergartens).

Priority is given to projects that:

– enhance access and inclusion

– address occupational and public health and safety

– improve or expand facilities for current use

– provide an environmental benefit.

Grant funding will reimburse up to a maximum of 50 per cent on paid invoices.

Under the Major Equipment Grants program, successful applicants may receive up to $20,000 in funding to help purchase equipment to maintain playing surfaces, without the need to engage contractors.

Major equipment grant funding is dollar-for-dollar, matched funding. These grants are only available to Recreation Reserve Committees of Management that can demonstrate the need for the equipment.

Community organisations applying for a grant are encouraged to contact relevant council officers early in their project planning to discuss the permit, building and environmental requirements for their projects.
