Thousands of Australians take part in the World’s Greatest Shave and amongst the participants this year was Beaconsfield Primary School student Hayden.
The Grade 5 student had his long blonde hair shaved off in front his peers during a whole school assembly on Monday.
So far, he has raised about $600 for the Leukaemia Foundation.
“There was a student at our school who went bald from cancer and I wanted to tell him to keep on fighting never give up,” Hayden said.
“When I was getting my hair shaved I was looking at the preps and feeling excited.
“Afterwards I felt nervous because I realised I stood out with no hair. However this was one of my biggest accomplishes.”
A number of other students bravely stood up to have their hair shaved during the assembly.
