Staff threatened with knife

Two local teenagers will appear in court today following an attempted armed robbery at Pakenham Big W on Thursday night.

Following an altercation between a male employee and the young boy, a 15 and 16-year-old l threatened Big W staff with a large kitchen knife at about 9pm.

The offenders then attempted to steal a car from the store car park but did not succeed.

Shortly after the incident, a large number of police attended and arrested the two teenagers.

No party was injured however police say the community and staff were left frightened.

“I was so scared. My heart was pounding and that’s when I thought I just had to get out,” witness Emily Doyle said.

“When we saw the knife we ran out of the shopping centre to the car.

“I got in the car and felt like I was going to be sick. I saw shaking.”
