Students from Beaconsfield Primary School were out-in-force to celebrate National Ride2School Day on Friday morning.

Ride2School Day is Australia’s biggest celebration of active travel, over 350,000 students from across the nation celebrated by riding, walking, scooting or skating to school,

More than 80 Beaconsfield Primary School students participated.

“The ride to school day was a big success and a wonderful way for our school to celebrate our commitment to active participation,” Beaconsfield Upper Primary School principal Vicki Miles said.

“It is a wonderful start to the day and a great way to talk and get to know one another.”

Typically, about 10 to 20 Beaconsfield Primary School students and parents meet Ms Miles at a local bakery every Friday morning and make their way to school.

In partnership with Bicycle Network, Cardinia Shire Council supports schools, students, and parents across our shire to participate in Ride2School Day as part of their Mobile March activities.

The nationwide program delivered by the Bicycle Network is designed to support schools to encourage, empower and enable more students to get physically active on their journey to school.
