First flag raising

Kooweerup Regional Health Service was excited to raise both the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Flags for the first time on 20 March.

This very special event had a great turn out from the local community, students, residents and staff from Kooweerup Regional Health Service.

“It was great to see everyone participating in some activities on the lawn and morning tea which was enjoyed by all,” Kooweerup Regional Health Service health promotion practitioner Trisha Kilgour said.

“The raising of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags shows the commitment that Kooweerup Regional Health Service has to the First Nation peoples and promotes the importance of reconciliation, respect and community partnerships.”

The flag raising event aligned with National Close the Gap day activities which was on 21 March and encourages all Australians to come together and commit to achieving health equality for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
