After an article was published in the Pakenham Officer Star news last week many people approached and supported a petition for Cardinia Shire Council to build a park in Arden Estate in Pakenham.

More than 100 people have signed the petition.

Members of Arden Estate Neighbours Group united on Saturday with the request to build a park with play equipment in the estate.

Member for La Trobe Jason Wood attended the meet up and supported the demand.

“There are will be around 550 houses in the estate once completed,” Mr Wood said.

“It is important to highlight that there is no park in the estate built by council or the estate developer and there is no plan to build one in future.”

Many petition supporters evoked their reasoning for need of a park on the petition website.

“Our estate is in desperate need of a park and open space for children to play in,” one woman commented.

“Council have let us down and so have the developers.

“We bought our land based on being told that there were lots of parks already planned and now the heritage grass is overgrown and disgusting to look at.”
