Victoria Police Highway Patrol has intercepted 830 vehicles across the Cardinia area since the start of February.

Police from the Cardinia Highway Patrol have been conducting two Traffic Accident Commission (TAC) funded operations in Cardinia focusing on motorcyclist safety and speeding drivers on rural roads, Operation Zedric and Operation Go Slow 2.

Forty-one shifts were conducted during these operations which saw a total of 823 traffic offences detected by police.

Drivers were caught breaking a number of laws including 680 drivers exceeding the speed limit and three drink drivers. Five vehicles were also impounded.

“Motorcyclists and speeding drivers continue to be over represented in road trauma in the Cardinia area,” Cardinia Highway Patrol sergeant Travis Cusack said.

“Police will continue to focus their efforts to reduce the incidence of this over representation through enforcement activities.”
