The Lang Lang cemetery has been targeted over the weekend, with cruel thieves making off with between $10-15,000 worth of equipment.

Garden and maintenance equipment, provided by the Cemetery Trust, and used by volunteers was taken on Sunday 9 June, sometime after 4pm.

Without this equipment, cemetery volunteers are left with nothing to maintain the grounds.

Lang Lang Cemetery Trust Secretary Karen Brown said everything from a maintenance shed was taken, except for a wheelbarrow.

“Our ride-on mowers and push mowers were all taken along with a whipper snipper and various tools,” Ms Brown.

“They even stole fuel.”

It’s alleged the thieves were well prepared, bringing a cordless drill with them to drill the lock out.

Sadly, this isn’t the first time the cemetery has been targeted, but volunteers have no leads as to who was responsible for the callous crime.

“No idea, we think it’s just random. We’re all volunteers, we can’t think of anyone who’d be out to get us,” Ms Brown said.

“We’re all pretty pissed off, we provide all the equipment and now that it’s all gone, we have nothing to use.

“We’re just going to have to start again.”

Police are investigating, anyone who may have noticed anything out of the ordinary at the cemetery on Sunday should contact the Lang Lang cemetery trust.
