Participants between the ages of seven and 19 flocked to Cardinia Life in Pakenham for the annual Junior Australian Floorball Open 2019 from Tuesday 9 July to Friday 12 July.

The unique sport, which is a mix between indoor hockey and iced hockey, is played in a rink with five players and a goalie per team.

In its second year held at Pakenham, 140 people across Australia and New Zealand took part in the tournament, coinciding with the school holidays.

The teams which took part in the event were the Pakenham Squishees, Peninsula Thunder, NSW Rovers, Western Exports and the Wellington Storm.

Pakenham Squishees took out both the Under 19’s and Under 16’s competition while Wellington Storm won the Under 14’s and Peninsula Thunder claimed the Under 11’s title.

The annual tournament will leave Pakenham and be held at a yet to be decided location next year.

Anyone interested in giving the sport a go can head down to Cardinia Life on Thursday nights from 4pm.
