In a show of support for the voluntary efforts of the CFA, members from the Beaconsfield Quilters Club presented a cheque of $500 to the Narre Warren CFA brigade.

Since February this year, the 13 members spend one day per month at the brigade for their meeting day.

President of Beaconsfield Quilters Club Rhonda Barry said it’s great to be able to help out where possible.

“It’s a voluntary fire brigade so I just think anything the public can do to help them is a good thing,” Ms Barry said.

“They’re a great bunch of guys who all volunteer their time, work and effort.”

It’s hoped the partnership between the two parties is only just beginning, with future projects in talks.

“A lot of us are retired, a few of us are alone so it’s a really nice social thing to do,” she said.

“I know that our presence here is appreciated as well.”

Their fundraising efforts certainly aren’t over yet, with a quilt being made to be put up for auction in November, with all proceeds going to the CFA.

The Beaconsfield Quilters Club is always looking for new members, with Ms Barry saying the benefits of the group are endless.

“I’ve built up some great friendships, we go away on caravan trips and go to the movies and do various things.”
