Community groups in Kooweerup and Lang Lang have received the benefits of banking locally, with the Bendigo Community Bank donating funds to the groups at their recent annual grants nights.

Koo Wee Rup Secondary College hosted the community bank representatives on the Tuesday 23 July, where more than $80,000 was donated to over 29 different community initiatives.

Some of the initiatives include building upgrades, flooring replacements, new canteen equipment for local sporting facilities, playground upgrades for schools in the area and funding towards local events, such as Carols by Candlelight later this year.

Mayor Graeme Moore was in attendance alongside Cr Ray Brown and Helena Maloney of Cardinia Shire Council, as well as over 100 representatives of local organisations.

The annual grants night in Lang Lang was held at the Lang Lang Sports Club, with more than $40,000 being donated to over 23 local recipients. The funding is to be put towards sporting facility upgrades, sponsorship packages and technology upgrades for a range of local schools and organisations.

Bob Taylor of the West Gippsland Cricket Association said he looks forward to the bank’s ongoing support as locals continue supporting their bank.

“On behalf of all the recipients in 2019, a big thank you for the ongoing assistance from the Lang Lang Community Bank branch,” Mr Taylor said.
