Cardinia Shire’s Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee held its annual general meeting on Wednesday 18 September , with a focus on ensuring access and inclusion for all members of the community.

The committee is made up of people and organisations with an interest in improving access and opportunities for people with a disability, as well as two councillor representatives.

It is responsible for monitoring and reviewing Council’s Cardinia Disability Access and Inclusion 2017–2021 Action Plan.

Members provide valuable information and advice to Council on issues affecting residents with a disability and oversee the access upgrade budget program.

This program delivers on a number of access upgrade projects across the shire including upgrades to Living and Learning Pakenham, Gembrook Community Centre, Garfield Bowling Club, Lang Lang Memorial Hall and Kooweerup Seniors, during 2018–19.

Works can include installation of accessible pathways, automatic opening doors, ramps, accessible toilets and carpark upgrades.

More information about the Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee is available on the Cardinia Council website.
