A trespasser on the tracks of Pakenham Railway Station has caused commuter chaos on Wednesday morning.

Police arrested a 38 year old Drouin man at the scene, who they said appeared to be drunk. He was taken to the Dandenong Police Station.

It’s understood a number of trains were cancelled as a result but a Metro spokesperson has since confirmed trains were running by 10am.

Commuters should expect delays of 40 minutes, due to an unrelated issue involving a line failure in Dandenong.

One witness was forced to wait 40 minutes at Officer Station until the next available train to transport her to Pakenham Station.

Upon arriving at Pakenham, the witness reported a large police presence, with a man in handcuffs on the platform between officers.

“He was yelling, he wasn’t hysterical but I thought he seemed angry that he had been detained,” she said.

It’s understood an announcement said there was a police operation underway in Berwick and a trespasser in Pakenham.
