Who will be Cardinia’s next mayor?

Cardinia Council will vote in its next mayor tonight, with councillor Michael Schilling expected to be the main contender – results show from the Star Reader Poll.

The poll, which was posted to the Gazette Facebook page on Wednesday, saw 144 users vote for who they think should be mayor of Cardinia.

Cr Schilling claimed 42 percent of the votes, with Cr Brett Owen coming in second with 19 percent.

15 percent voted Cr Leticia Wilmot, 10 percent Deputy Mayor Collin Ross, nine percent current Mayor Graeme Moore and only one percent for Cr Ray Brown, Cr Carol Ryan, Cr Jeff Springfield, and Cr Jodie Owen.

A special meeting will take place in the Council Chambers at the Cardinia Shire Council Civic Centre at 7pm on Monday 11 November to elect a mayor and deputy mayor to lead the council until the next election in 2020.
