A 20-year-old man has been arrested at a Pakenham address in relation to an alleged carjacking where his victim was held at gunpoint.

The Narre Warre man was arrested by officers from the Special Operations Group on Tuesday 3 December, just before 4pm.

Police will allege the man was involved in an incident, which took place almost a month ago.

On 14 November, a 22-year-old Mercedes driver was allegedly held at gunpoint and bashed on the Eastern Freeway near the Bulleen Road overpass.

It’s understood the victim was followed by two men travelling in a white Nissan SUV for more than 15 kilometres, before the offenders intercepted, hitting him with a firearm and stealing the 2018 Mercedes CLA200, which was valued at $56,000.

Police confirmed the alleged offender remains in custody where he continues to assist detectives from the Eastern Region Crime Team with their inquiries.
